Our Midwives

We are registered professional independent practising midwives.

We are very committed and passionate about natural birth. Helping women and families through this transition in life is what we love to do! Because we believe that continuity of care is important, each client has 2 midwives that see her throughout her prenatal, birth, and postnatal care.

ANNA HOLLOWAY
Anna on postnatal visitHi , my name is Anna Holloway. I’m mother of four adult children and grandma to eight. I am married to Richard and have been a midwife since 1972.

I am accredited with the Australian College of Midwives, a member of the Australian Private Midwives Association, and am also registered with St. Luke’s Health Fund. My occasional shifts in the post-natal ward at Calvary Healthcare St. Luke’s campus allow me to keep up to date especially with lactation consultancy.

Much of my early experience was gained in the indigenous cultures of Papua New Guinea and Central and Northern Australia where it quickly dawned on me that women instinctively know how to give birth under their own steam. Consequently, I chose to birth my own babies at home and developed a passion to see other women have the same opportunity.

I became involved with the Launceston Birth Centre in 1993 and love building relationships with families during this special time of their lives

JEAN VASIC
Jean VasicTrained in England in 1974, I have been involved with the Launceston Birth Centre since 1984. I am accredited with the Australian College of Midwives, am a member of the Australian Private Midwives Association and also registered with St. Luke’s Health fund.

I believe that the health of the newborn depends greatly on the health of the Mum and Dad, both pre – and post – conception. In my practice my interest in health and nutrition and glyconutrition will assist in maintaining optimal health for both mother and baby.

Community midwifery, with continuity of care by a known midwife, is the HEART of my most rewarding and fulfilling career.
